Why I don’t share all my recipes and ingredients…

I get asked quite a bit “please tell me what’s in your stretch mark & scar blend”?, “how do you make your labour blend”? “I can’t wait for an online order to arrive in UK, can you please just tell me how to make the BeautiFuel Serum and I’ll just make it myself”

I never enjoy getting these emails or questions as I’m a very giving and generous person so it does go against my nature to not share everything but I do have good reason. Hopefully I don’t come across harsh, it’s not my intention.

Please note: These inquiries are always from people who have never purchased from,  or come to see me before, not my lovely regular clients & online customers.

Firstly, I studied, paid several thousand dollars to get my qualification, in course fees, extra essential oils, time, books & manuals – we know study isn’t cheap let alone free.  Also, all the blends I sell, I developed the recipes myself, I don’t copy anyone’s, in fact I have very high ethics, if someone asks me to copy a specific product I tell them “I don’t do that however, tell me what you want to treat / achieve and I’ll make you something myself using my experience & knowledge”.

Secondly, it’s all about ‘IP’ (intellectual property), in other words, the recipes belong to me, I’ve developed them and they form a huge part of my business, I run a business – you wouldn’t walk into a clothing shop, ask the assistant if you could take a pattern off a piece of clothing, so you could go home and make it would you?

This could seem harsh to you, but unfortunately I have been badly burnt on two occasions now. I used to share my PUPPPS Rash Relief (a very distressing hive like pregnancy rash) recipe – this blend is groundbreaking – I’m not exaggerating when I say there is nothing else in the world like it, it actually will relieve the symptoms and clear the condition up (where steroids, antihistamines won’t touch it) – feed back from the successful cases is just incredible.  Then a woman in America (who sells essential oil products online) decided to make her own using my recipe, and claimed it as her own.  She is not qualified, she’s ‘read books’ and feels she is qualified enough to make recommendations (some of her recommendations are scarily high risk, there is nothing I can do though).  I wrote to her (after advice from my lawyer) and asked her to pull this product down – she did, then 5 days later re-added it, tweaked it adding an extra essential oil so she can get round the IP, claims it as her own.  Sales to USA have plummeted – not hard to understand why. She is benefiting financially from basic ‘theft’!

Hey+man+thanks+for+reposting+my+oc+from+_35129e22b02f18fc45f3c0bd710dc6a3

On the other occasion I had to pay a lawyer to get help with plagiarism for the other product a young ‘unqualified man’ in Wales tried to copy.  These occasions are very stressful for me, they effect my business as well. It shouldn’t happen but with the internet, you have NO control.

So on the advice on my lawyer I have legally protected these two particular products with a ‘trade secret’ (just like KFC & Coca Cola do) – my hand has been forced! These are only two occasions, there have been more on lesser degrees of copying, or ‘trying’ to copy.

Some recipes I’m happy to share, some I just can’t – it just effects my business too much!

“My reputation is on the line and I stand by my products with honesty & integrity.  If I made unsafe products or ineffective products, I wouldn’t still be in business –  I take my profession very seriously which is why I studied and have an international qualification I’m immensely proud of”

This is what I kindly explain to people when they say “but I want to know what I’m putting on my body”

Why do the big corporate companies do it? Most of the products contain ‘lab made’ chemicals (including ‘fragrance’ & parfume‘, see that on a label and you can guarantee there are at least 100 synthetic ingredients in those additives), would you have any idea how to make Butylated hydroxianisole (BHA)? or Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, ? So the corporates, you can see they’re pretty safe right?

Copyright you say? I’m afraid SME’s like mine don’t have the hundreds and thousands of dollars required to protect each recipe – Trade Secret’s are an option, which I’ve taken a stance on for two of my many recipes. The others I will share say 3 of the 5 essential oils in the products.  I believe this ‘middle ground’ is fair. And as I’ve explained above, my reputation is on the line and I stand by my products (I do understand people’s concerns) – they all contain, and more importantly only contain 100% pure essential oils and plant based carrier oils – that’s it! Nothing else – simple!

In a nutshell, the business I have built from scratch, wouldn’t survive. I hope you now understand…

Thank you for taking the time to read this, please feel free to share.

I need some help please………..

I need some help to spread the word here please – one of my best sellers of blends is the one for the mean distressing rash PUPPPS – I sell it worldwide and at the time of writing, approx 20-25 bottles a week get ordered – this may seem like a small number but for a condition that isn’t very common, its a lot.

The blend is extremely effective and as far as I can tell (from extensive research and research from people who find me) no one else makes a product that will ‘really’ help.  All clients I speak to who have had this often say “My Dr knows nothing about it” “Steroid creams & antihistamines have little to no affect” “I self diagnosed because my Dr knew nothing about it”.

I also know that the rash is extremely distressing…… “like hundreds of wasp stings” one lady said to me…

My dilemma – I need to spread the word about the blend – it is not a money making exercise for me (I provide the recipe to ladies who need it ‘now’ and can’t wait for a few days delivery time – the oils to buy and make yourself are around $200 so it’s not cheap, but pre-blended, very affordable)… but the people I need to know about this blend are midwives, FB mother’s groups – even Dr’s – worldwide!

If anyone can help with ideas on how to get it out there, I would be grateful for all advice. I’ve called the Midwives association in NZ but I think they thought I was on a sales drive (le sigh) and I didn’t hear anything back (for example).Image

You can see the blend is not expensive to buy:

PUPPS Rash Relief

I pretty much drop everything and get orders out as quick as possible when it’s ordered online and always offer a full body massage with the blend if ladies live within close proximity to my practice.

Thank you for reading this and helping (if you can) – it will bring a massive amount of relief to any pregnant woman suffering from this condition.

Tamanu Oil – Calophyllum inophyllum – Carrier Oil

Also known as ‘Green Gold’ – I’ve recently ‘properly’ discovered Tamanu Carrier Oil -Extensive research and reading nothing but fantastic results about this carrier oil, I decided it is a ‘must have’ in some Le’Esscience blends.  Tamanu Oil has been through pharmaceutical tests so this information is not just ‘here-say’.

So what is Tamanu Oil?

Tamanu oil is a remarkable topical healing agent with skin healing, antineuralgic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic and antioxidant properties. The Tamanu tree blooms twice annually with fragrant, white flowers, which later yield clusters of yellow-skinned spherical fruit. The fruit’s pulp tastes similar to an apple, within which a large nut is embedded. The nut contains an odorless pale kernel, called punnai in some Pacific areas. This kernel is dried in the sun for two months until it becomes sticky with a dark, thick, rich oil; it must be protected from humidity and rain during drying. This thick oil is cold-pressed to make a greenish yellow oil similar to olive oil (but thicker). To put this spectacular oil into perspective, and to further justify its relatively high cost, it takes 100 kilograms of Tamanu fruit, the amount that one tree produces annually, to yield just 5 kilograms of cold pressed oil! Natives believed the Tamanu tree was a sacred gift of nature and that gods hid in its branches. It was their answer to skin protection from hot sun, high humidity and ocean wind.

According to Anthony C. Dweck
Consultant, Dweck Data, Salisbury, UK….

…Tamanu oil can be applied on skins as well as mucous membrane lesions. It heals small wounds, such as cracks and chaps, but is also efficient on more serious cutaneous problems: atonic wounds, physical and chemical burns, radio-dermatitis, anal fissures or post-surgical wounds. Tamanu oil activity was studied in numerous clinical cases. Those healing, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties make Tamanu oil an excellent raw material in cosmetics, in regenerating and protective formulations. The oil is especially recommended for all kinds of burns (sunburns or chemical burns), most dermatoses, post-surgical cicatrisation, certain skin allergies, acne, psoriasis, herpes, chilblains, skin cracks, diabetic sores, hemorrhoids, dry skin, insomnia, hair loss, etc. (1) The Tamanu plant contains many chemical components which have proven to be helpful in the restoration and regeneration of skin tissue.

And even MORE exciting………..

Treatment for Scars
Tamanu oil fades stretch marks with incredible results. It also works miracles on scar tissue, making scars look less unsightly. BioScience Laboratories conducted a study of Tamanu oil’s ability to improve the appearance of scars. Six subjects with obvious scars aged for one year or more participated in the test. Subjects were not allowed to use moisturizers on their scarred areas for seven days before the test or throughout the nine-week test period. Scars were rated for roughness, length, width and degree of difference from surrounding normal skin. Measurements of darkness and redness were also taken for scarred and surrounding normal skin. Digital photos of scars were taken prior to initial application and at the end of week nine. Tamanu oil was applied to the scarred area twice daily for nine consecutive weeks. There was significant improvement in appearance of scars after six weeks, and improvement continued through week nine. Scar length was reduced by an average 0.28 centimeters, and width was reduced by an average 0.12 centimeters! Source: Walk in Beauty

So in a nutshell – it is reportedly amazing stuff and in summary can be used for all these things:

There is a wee downside – it’s expensive BUT the great thing it blends fabulously with other carrier oils and essential oil (you only need a little of this oil).

The exciting thing is I have some in my possession so now Joint Pain & Injury, Stretch Mark & Scar Blend, Eczema, Dermatitis & Psoriasis & PUPPS Blends will contain Tamanu Oil.

Precautions

Although Botanical.Com indicates that Tamanu oil can be applied directly to skin undiluted and that there are no reports of adverse effects from topical application, if you are going to use Tamanu Oil undiluted, it would pay to patch test an area of your skin first (I would strongly recommend this if you have nut allergies).

Essential Oil of the Day – German Chamomile

GERMAN CHAMOMILE ( Matricaria recutica) – A middle note essential oil (so stays in your system 2-3 days), it is a deep inky blue in colour. It has a very strong sweet aroma, people either like it or they don’t! It is, by far, the best pain reliever of all essential oils, 10 out of 10! It is also an anti-inflammatory, great… for arthritis, inflamed joints, rheumatism, sprains, aches & pains. Very relaxing, will help put you to sleep and great for any stress related complaints. It’s good for children & the elderly – a safe oil, it has no contraindications (only to be used externally though). I always use this oil in any of my blends where there is a need to help with pain – it’s just brilliant!

German Chamomile is also execellent for inflamed skin conditions – it can work really well for eczema, insect bites, wounds, dermatitis, psoriasis, rashes, ulcers – so valuable for any type of inflammation, internally & externally – it’s one of the main ingrediants of my PUPPS blend (nasty pregnancy rash).

It is most helpful for toddlers / children who are teething and adults and children for earache.

German Chamomile is one of my favourites due to it being so effective – I never let my stocks get low!!

Pregnancy & Aromatherapy – wonderful natural treatments….bliss

I love seeing the change in my pregnant clients as they progress through their treatments with me, better sleep, less headaches, emotions more balanced, less stressed and more relaxed. Happiness all round!  Just because you are pregnant – why should it be hard work and tiresome?  Better to enjoy this amazing time of your life don’t you think?

Once you have read, please feel free to ask me any questions on my Le’Esscience Facebook page

So what do Aromatherapy treatments do?

  • It is relaxing – it helps to stop the build up of tension, especially in the neck and shoulders, and later through the pregnancy, the lower back
  • It is uplifting & revitalising – it helps with fatigue and improves skin tone, helping to reduce small imperfections and spots
  • It stimulates lymphatic draining and the elmination of toxic waste from the system – this is important during pregnancy due to the greater tendancy towards fluid retention
  • It tones the mucsles – this helps combat the aches and pains that are sometimes caused by distended ligaments & allieviates any tendency to cramp
  • Can help relieve pregnancy rashes such as PUPPS
  • It improves the circulation – veins tend to become more apparent in pregnancy – it can help to prevent varicose veins, thread veins & haemorrhoids
  • It maintains the skins suppleness and elasticity – this helps prevent stretchmarks
  • It induces a general feeling of well-being – the massage induces mental & physical relaxation
  • It prepares for childbirth – regular aromatherapy helps keeps the whole system relaxed and in harmony…bliss!

There is a myth that you should not use essential oils while pregnant, some essential oils must be avoided (such as the stimulating e/oils such as clary sage, peppermint, marjoram rosemary, thyme to name a few).  As a general rule fruit and flower are safe to use during pregnancy. They must be diluted when applied topically – and ‘low’ dilutions must be used.

I treat my clients with regular aromatherapy massage, take home body blends (for applying daily to the body to keep the treatment working well between appointments), synergies which can be used in vaporisers & in the bath, as drops on a tissue or steam inhalations.

Treatments are available for the following:

  • Pregnancy induced stress
  • Insomnia
  • Nausea / Vomiting / Morning Sickness
  • Prevention of Perineal tears
  • Oedema
  • Headaches
  • Pregnancy rashes
  • Stress and tension
  • Stretchmarks

Blends can be made if you are overdue to encourage labour to begin – a blend can be used at the first sign of labour – the e/oils used can help to strengthen contractions, ease panicky and racing mind states – encourages a balancing feeling so you can focus the mind ‘on the job’ – great for nerves, calming, soothing, relieves aches & pains.

These treatments should be administered under the direction of a professional Aromatologist/Aromatherapist – by the experience I’ve had with my pregnant ladies, they very look forward to their treatments, leaving with their little bottes of happiness & relaxtion to see them through, what can be, a tiring 9 months.

If nothing else, Lavender (Lavendula Angustifolia) is your BEST friend…….. SO many uses for Lavender during pregnancy!

Puppps: A mean & distressing rash – it can be helped!

GREAT NEWS TODAY – one of my clients (she gave me permission to write this) is 38 weeks pregnant and is suffering from Puppps (Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy) – poor lovely lady has been miserable with dreadful itching with a mean looking raised rash on [mostly] the right side of her body.  I made a blend using 4 essential oils and 2 plant based carrier oils – I gave her a lovely relaxing massage with this blend and sent her home with a bottle to use 3x a day, until it’s settled – this was on Monday, today (Wednesday) the redness is pretty much gone, only a little bit itchy ‘now & then’ but SO much better! “I feel normal, you’re a life saver” is what she said in a text to me today – I’m so very happy I’ve been able to give some relief and peace during the last couple of weeks before the exciting birth of her baby.

The best news?  No steroid creams were needed (as her Dr prescribed, but she didn’t use) – 100% natural & pure ingrediants were used – how good is that!
