Essential Oil of the Day – Bergamot

BERGAMOT (Citrus bergamia) – A top note (stays in the system for about 24 hours), it has a lovely light, rich, sweet citrus aroma. Bergamot is used to flavour Early Grey tea and is the strongest of the fruit oils. As is promotes skin cell growth, it’s good for skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, dermatitis, ulcers etc

Great for anxiety & mood swings and is brilliant for depression (the strongest oil for this), also good for stress & tension, it will also help you to sleep! I use Bergamot regularly – it’s just great for lifting you out of negative rut.  Also very good for anxiety, mood swings, stress, tension & insomnia.  Bergamot is safe for babies & children (but must be used in the correct dilution rate and never neat – add a couple of drops to a bath to help with relaxation before bed).

4-5 drops on a tissue and tucked down your top is a good way to get the benefits of it all day!  Also, excellent if you are having a wee tearful breakdown, add 2-3 drops to the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, cup your nose and inhale 4-5x – will help calm you very quickly.

Bergamot blends very well with Orange, Lavender, Petitgrain, Neroli, Lemon, Geranium, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang & Lime (to name a few) – combining 3-5 of these in a blend would make a powerful relaxing / destressing / anti-anxiety – anti-depression blend.

Bergamot is a safe essential oil – as stated above, even for children (must be used in the correct dosages of course).
